Hairgrass, is native to North America and is a fast growing species with long, light green, grass-like leaves that will eventually form a dense "carpet" over substrate.
These plants get up to 12" and do well with moderate lighting and proprogate with runners that form off the roof.. The ones available are aproximately 10"

Due to the description, I expected to receive a plant with grass blades about 10" long, but what I got was about twice that length! I trimmed it to about 12" to fit in my aquarium with a little room to grow and it seems not to have been bothered by the cutting. It's bright green and thick, though the blades or leaves are thin and rounded. Since placing it in my aquarium, it has become my African dwarf frog's favorite hangout. I was hoping it would provide shelter for fry, but not with a fry-gobbling frog tucked into it! If she finds one, she shoves it in her mouth with both hands and looks very pleased with herself. At any rate, the pant was more than I expected, is healthy and green in an aquarium with LED lights and no CO2 supplementation, and arrived quickly, packaged well and thankfully snail-free.
