I started this website to share this wonderful hobby and to promote it's growth and popularity. It started in the early 80's when I was 19 and opened up my first pet store. I opened 3 others before I sold the last one in 1999. I wanted to get back in the business on a smaller scale, so I did some research and went to a fish auction with my son. A trio of blue guppies went for $65.00, my son asked why they were so expensive and I couldn't give him a reason. I got a better look at these fish from the person that bought them ( they were spectacular ), and wish that it was me that spent the money and was bringing them home. I got the bug and started traveling to some of he best breeders in the country, and picking out my initial stock. I started buying some online with some great luck, and others that I wished I had passed on. I have done the research and leg work for you. We have mostly switched from fish to high end exotic shrimp and exotic frogs. Once again we only deal with the best! You can be assured of getting the highest quality fish, Shrimp, and frogs available. If you are buying for enjoyment, or are planning on showing. You will not be disappointed.
October of 2008 we started a poison dart frog breeding project. This is something I have a great passion for and feel the need to keep these frogs just as they are in nature. Many of them are getting very rare in the wild, with major loss of habitat. We have quite a few breeding pairs, and even more that are getting close to breeding age. Keep checking back as our available list keeps growing. ( Update on the frogs, as you probably can see from the selection of frogs we are working with, This has become a full scale large operation for us. Truly a labor of love, new froglets are becoming available at a quick pace.)
My Shrimp are fed once times daily with a combination of frozen and flake foods. The water has a pH of 6.5 to 7.5 depending on the shrimp.
Although some shrimp can be mixed with community fish, it is best that they should be kept to themselves to limit as many risk factors as possible.
We are now offering Crystal Red Shrimp, and Black Bee Shrimp which originated in Japan. They are graded from a scale that goes from the highest quality ( sss ) to the lowest quality (c ) The range goes in this order c,b,a,s,s+,ss,sss. The grade I concentrate in is the S+, SS, SSS category. They are the best looking of the shrimp, and can be purchased at a reasonable price. The sss can cost in the thousand dollar range for some of them.
Just recently we have set up our Pleco Hatchery. Stay tuned and we will let you know how these develop. Just like our shrimp and frogs Only the highest quality fish were purchased.
